Since our inception in 2004, Texas 4000 continues to grow each year. After adding a third route in 2013, we've developed more student leaders than ever before, logged more volunteer hours in the Austin community, donated more funding to cancer research and support services, and touched more and more communities with our message of hope, knowledge, and charity in the fight against cancer. But with more outreach also comes more expenses. While you may know us by our cornerstone event, a 70 day bike ride from Austin, TX to Anchorage, AK, we are far more than "just another long bike ride." We are an 18-month leadership development program designed to cultivate the next generation to lead the fight against cancer. In addition, we make generous grants to cancer-fighting organizations. This year we will be awarding our highest grant amount to date: $450,000!

Impact Statement

To date, Texas 4000 has raised more than $8 million in the fight against cancer and developed more than 600 young leaders. As an 18-month leadership development program, we are so much more than our annual bike ride from Austin, Texas to Anchorage, Alaska. Our current team has 77 members and our 2019 team is made up of 93 students anxiously awaiting their ride year. We volunteer thousands of hours in the Austin community and share our message of hope, knowledge, and charity in countless communities across the country. As our teams, fundraising totals, grant amounts, and alumni network grow, so does our impact on the lives of our students and the many whose lives they touch. We are proud to be in our 15th Anniversary year and hope to celebrate all the milestones that we have accomplished in that time with you at one of our events this year!

Needs Statement

Every dollar raised through our Amplify Austin campaign will be given directly to cancer research and support service organizations that we support through our grant-making process.
"Texas 4000 has built a foundation for all of us who ride and for all of the people we've impacted along the way. I think it's going to allow us to do even greater things in the future because such a great example has been set for the kinds of people we want to be."

"Yes, we spread knowledge through cancer awareness and by letting people know that we are here and fighting. But as individuals on this team and as people going out into the world soon - we also gain so much life experience on this ride."

"I wish everyone could be part of one of our daily ride dedication circles. This is when we share about who we are riding for. Hearing the stories of those we've lost and those who are still fighting cancer - that's what gives us the strength and motivation to keep pedaling."
