There is a growing crisis of family homelessness in Travis and Williamson counties. The Salvation Army provides emergency shelter, meals, case management and wraparound services for people experiencing homelessness. Surprisingly, most of those sheltered are women and children.
Your gift today will provide a hand up to help these local families move into improved employment and safe housing, will support these children in a better future, and will help end the cycle of homelessness.
Your donation today will stay local and help more than 230 women and children living in our shelters every day. Your donation helps these women move from homelessness to self-sufficiency.
Impact StatementThe Salvation Army is serving more individuals and families than ever before in Travis and Williamson counties. We provide shelter for those who otherwise would face another night sleeping on the streets, food for families who are struggling to put a meal on their table, and financial assistance for rent or utilities to families whose budgets are stretched to the breaking point.
Needs StatementWe are working to raise $35,000 to provide food, shelter and wraparound services to men, women and children living in our emergency shelters. Our wraparound services include childcare, life skills training, individualized therapy, case management, tutoring, personal budgeting and employment services. Your gift will help men, women and children facing homelessness move from crisis to stability.
The Salvation Army pledges to Do The Most Good with contributions of money, time and resources, evidenced in that 82 cents of every dollar donated is directly allocated to services that assist people in need.
"There was a point that obviously my mom had decided she had to ask for help. Looking back on that now, I'm really glad that she did because I know as a person that is something that she always avoided. Family business is family business in my house and certainly when it came to this, taking a handout was never her style. And I think it took a lot for her to not just recognize that we were in a position that she couldn't pull us out on her own, but that it was OK to ask." - Sam Espinosa
Your contribution really does make a difference for women and children in greatest need in Travis and Williamson counties. Thank you for you support.
