Presbyterian Children's Homes and Services Add to Favorites

Presbyterian Children's Homes and Services (PCHAS), is a children's social service agency that has provided Christ-centered care to children and families in need since 1903. Our programs break the cycles of abuse and other behaviors that cause families to fall apart and harm children. We nurture both children and adults by being family-centered, strength focused, and goal driven.

What began as an orphanage in north Texas, our programs and services evolved over the past 100+ years to meet the ever changing array of children and family needs. In Austin, we provide services to children and families in need through three core programs:
Foster Care
Child & Family (in-home family preservation)

Impact Statement

The best way to help children is to strengthen the families around them. We view and connect with children in the context of their family because we believe this is the best way to promote change. We help families and adults increase their self-sufficiency, and we help children have a lifelong plan (permanency).

Needs Statement

We invite you to assist the children and families in our care with needs and services throughout the year. Your gift will provide necessary items and additional services for our children such as:

$100 - One week of after school care for a child

"I often think about how much you have helped our family. So, if you ever have a day when you feel like what you do doesn't matter, I want you to call me. I will make sure to tell you what you do matters. You honestly have changed our entire lives."- Grandmother raising her four grandchildren who is working with our child and family specialist

"I can't believe I finished."- Eight-year-old child recently placed in our Group Home program who completed a triathlon hosted on our Group Home campus for the children each summer.

"You are the only person in this town that was willing to help me. No, you are the only person in this town that was willing to listen to me; no one else cared enough to listen."- Client who came to our child and family specialist
We have a variety of periodic volunteer needs. Our most critical volunteer need currently is to help with child care during foster parent training and to assist us in our administrative office with mailings.
Please contact our volunteer coordinator, Jennifer Quintero ( and we can find a volunteer opportunity for you!
