Manos is celebrating 29 years of service to Central Texas! With YOUR help, we can continue to provide critical access to our low-cost dental, adult education and basic needs programs. Below are just a few highlights from 2016:

Dental Center: Manos continues to be one of the few low-cost dental centers in Austin, offering oral health care services to both under and un-insured individuals. The Dental Center is committed to providing high quality, low cost dental care to relieve pain and prevent financially crippling medical bills. Our Dental Center served approximately 16,000 patients in 2016 and donated $3.9 million in dental services to the public, an 11% increase of dollars donated since 2015!

Emergency Food & Clothing Center: Nearly 10,000 individuals sought assistance from our emergency food pantry and clothes closet. We partnered with local area farms, including Coyote Creek Farm, who donated 405 dozen of fresh eggs for our food pantry! Our Food and Clothing Center is truly for those in need of emergency assistance and can only be accessed once every three months to allow us to serve as many people as possible.

Back-to-School Program: Manos' annual Back-to-School program served over 2,000 kids! Each year, Manos distributes backpacks (filled with supplies appropriate to their grade level), socks, undergarments, pants, shorts and a shirt to low-income children whose parents struggle preparing them for the school year. Students participate in a "shopping day" along with hundreds of volunteers, to pick out their own items in hopes of getting them excited and prepared for the upcoming school year.

Education Center: For the second year in a row, the Manos Education program has expanded. In 2016 we offered English as a Second Language (ESL) and Citizenship classes to two satellite locations. This year, we have expanded to another satellite location in East Austin, where we offer Citizenship classes in the evenings thanks to a grant received by the Department of Homeland Security. We continue to offer ESL, Computer, Citizenship and Spanish Literacy classes at our main campus. With your help, we can keep expanding and teaching more adult learners.

With your support through Amplify Austin, we can make sure no one is ever turned away for service. Thank you in advance for helping to make your community a happier, healthier place to live!

Impact Statement

Oral Health: Manos provides dental care at highly discounted rates to nearly 16,000 individuals each year who are ineligible for government assistance or who would otherwise go without treatment.

Education: Manos provides English as a Second Language (ESL), Computer Literacy/Workplace Training Skills, Adult Basic Education in Spanish, and Citizenship Preparation classes to over 800 students per year in order to empower adult students and improve their lives and financial stability. Classes are taught primarily by trained volunteers.

Basic Needs: Manos provides a food pantry and clothes closet in order to meet our clients' immediate basic needs and stretch their household budgets. More than 8,500 seniors, adults and children were served last year.

Back-to-School Program: Manos supplies new clothing, backpacks and grade-appropriate school supplies to more than 2,000 pre-K-5th grade children living with socioeconomic and educational risk factors, who would start school without these items if it weren't for our generous supporters and volunteers.

Needs Statement

She made sure I was very comfortable and that I experienced no pain. I am very grateful for her care and empathy for my situation." Gerald, Dental Center Patient

"I am very happy to have had the opportunity to know the Manos community. I love my teacher, she is patient and she understands my ideas. The class helped me at my work and my personal life." Manos ESL Student

"Its always good to know that you are accepted and welcome to places for assistance. They seem glad to help me." - Lori, Manos Food Pantry Client
