Help me support The Arc of the Capital Area
by Sara Rider
The Arc of the Capital Area provides important services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. But there is always more need than there are funds to help the people we serve. Texas ranks 50th among all of the states in the country in the funding we provide for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. To give the people who need our help - and their families - a better tomorrow, we all need to lend a hand.

Jessica Loves The Arc of the Capital Area!
by Jessica Cochran
The Arc of the Capital Area provides services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (frequently abbreviated as I/DD). I/DD is an umbrella term that includes Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down syndrome, spina bifida, and more than 100 other diagnoses. Here at The Arc, we have case management programs that empower people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live in the community setting of their choice rather than living in an institution, hold a competitive job in the community, advocate for student accommodations at public schools, and much, much more. We also have an art studio where Central Texans with I/DD can learn fine art skills.

I love working here at The Arc. I love getting to be friends with our clients and art students. I love getting to hang out with the therapy dogs that sometimes visit. Most of all, I love to be a part of making Central Texas more accessible to people with I/DD.

I would be honored if you joined me in that effort! Please donate to my Amplify Austin campaign and a million thank yous to you who do!

As a board member I know first-hand what an important organization The Arc of the Capital Area is and how its services and programs contribute value to the greater Austin community.

The Arc serves as a unique organization that gives meaningful purpose to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities that are oftentimes an overlooked population. From the Arc of the Arts Studio to Case Management and Guardianship, The Arc is a true lifeline for information, crisis assistance, service coordination and socialization and gives its clients a sense of importance.

The Arc serves more than 2,000 people annually, but they can't do it without help from the community.

Please join me in raising $5,000 for The Arc. Your gift of $25 (or more) will help support people who oftentimes cannot speak or advocate for themselves.

Amplify the Arc of the Capital Area!
by Kara Swinney
Some of you may be familiar with The Arc of the Capital Area from the events that highlight the amazing art of the artists from The Arc of the Arts program. It is the most public-facing part of what The Arc does for our community, but I invite you to dig a little deeper and really get the know The Arc. Many central Texans care for family members who experience intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Arc supports these individuals and families with case management services to help them get the support services they need, including physical therapy, attendant care and home or van modifications, to name a few. This is important to me as a pediatric physical therapist who sees the many needs of families throughout the lifetime of caring for a loved one with a disability. Please join me in making a donation to an organization that puts clients first and is a lifeline for so many.
