Keep Austin Bookish
by Claire Burrows
I love the Texas Book Festival, and the incredible rainbow of literary programs, authors, and books the TBF brings to Austin and Texas. Some of the best people in this world are children's authors, and they bring their humor, enthusiasm, and kindness to Reading Rock Stars every time. The coolest kids go to the Texas Teen Book Festival, probably in a Harry Potter costume. You never know how you'll run into during the Festival weekend (but it could be Margaret Atwood, Jason Reynolds, Lisa Ko, Ethan Hawke...) Whether you give $10 or $100, you are supporting literary culture in Austin for everyone!

Books for kids with Reading Rock Stars!
by Lea Bogner
One of the major predictors of academic success is the amount of books in the home. In middle-income neighborhoods, there are 13 books for every one child. In low-income neighborhoods there is one book for every 300 children. This is a statistic we can each do something about.

Reading Rock Stars brings nationally recognized authors into Title I Schools to present on their books and get kids excited about reading. The Texas Book Festival gives each child their very own book--signed by the author that they met-- to start building their own personal library. In many cases, this book is the child's first book and one of the only books in their home.
As the Outreach Coordinator, it is my job to make Reading Rock Stars happen! I recruit the authors, order all the books, and work with teachers across Texas to create activities to get the students excited to read and meet the authors. I work hard to find the most diverse stories and authors so that students will see themselves not only in the books, but also in their visiting author's personal story.

Thank you for your support!

Amp Up the Texas Teen Book Festival!
by Julie Wernersbach
Support the Texas Teen Book Festival and give teens the opportunity to totally freak out about meeting their favorite authors right here in Austin!

If I could only celebrate one day for the rest of my life, I would trade in my birthday, Christmas, New Year's, Valentine's Day, and every single other holiday for the Texas Teen Book Festival. Once a year, thousands of teens converge in Austin for an epic day where the books are EVERYTHING, the authors are rock stars, and the infectious energy of so many teen readers builds a camaraderie that is downright inspiring. And it's all FREE to attend! TTBF is heading into its tenth year with major plans for making this an even bigger, better, more meaningful day for teen readers here in Austin. This is a festival founded by librarians and booksellers who work hard to bring together top tier YA authors, original programming, engaging workshops and interactive activities that invite teens to be creative, read everything, and imagine their futures. Let's make TTBF 10 an amazing day for teen readers!

Books for every reader, readers for every book!
by Lydia Melby
If you're a book lover in Austin, you probably already know about the Texas Book Festival, and it's probably the highlight of your year. But did you know that in addition to the yearly Festival in downtown Austin, the TBF also runs an array of programs supporting literacy and promoting reading in Austin and around the state of Texas? Whether we're bringing some of the best children's authors into Title I Texas schools and giving the students copies of their books with our Reading Rock Stars program, geeking out with teens over our favorite YA authors at the Texas Teen Book Festival, helping Texas libraries add to their collections with our Texas Library Grants, inspiring young Texas writers with our Fresh Ink Fiction Contest, or of course, hosting our annual Festival Weekend extravaganza of books, author talks, music, family activities, and more, the Texas Book Festival is working to promote and support literacy. Whether you can give $5 or $50 or more, every gift helps us bring books and authors to readers. Help us inspire Texans of all ages to love reading!

Fund the Next Gen of Writers and Readers

Support the Texas Book Festival's efforts that encourage kids to read and write more!
The TBF program people are most familiar with is, of course, our namesake annual Festival that brings so many authors and so many books to Austin every fall for a weekend of free, incredible programming to 50,000, including, we hope, you and yours! In addition to this annual celebration of literature and literacy, the TBF runs programs throughout the year that inspire and impact kids and students. Did you know our annual Fresh Ink Fiction Contest encourages middle and high school students to write an original piece of fiction with cash prizes and the opportunity to travel to the annual Festival and participate on an official panel with fellow winners? Did you know the TBF brings children's authors and gives more than 9,000 books to Title I students through our Reading Rock Stars program? Did you know that the TBF also hosts another free festival just for teens, the Texas Teen Book Festival? Did you know that the TBF continues to provide important grant funding to public libraries all across the state so that families and community members can access new collection materials? Support the work we do and support literacy and a more literate future for our kids.
