Hospice Austin was established more than 35 years ago by a group of doctors and concerned citizens for the sole purpose of serving families and providing compassionate end-of-life care to any person who needs us, regardless of the complexity of the illness, cost of care or ability to pay.

Today, more families are facing barriers to accessing end-of-life healthcare including lack of insurance, limited medical benefits and out-of pocket expenses resulting from a lengthy illness. This is true even for our Medicare patients as the gap between Medicare reimbursement rates and the actual cost of care continues to grow. All of these challenges jeopardize access to healthcare for the most vulnerable in our community.

Your gift through Amplify Austin will ensure that no terminally ill patient in our community is denied services because of lack of resources. Hospice Austin is able to serve the needs of the dying because of your contribution to our mission. For that we are grateful.

Impact Statement

As the first hospice in Central Texas, Hospice Austin has been caring for area families for more than 35 years. We deliver patient-centered end-of-life care that emphasizes independence, dignity and respect, regardless of a person's ability to pay. 2,054 patients were admitted to Hospice Austin services this past year.

Needs Statement

We live our caring, nonprofit mission each day, and commit every possible resource back into programs that directly benefit patients and their families. Community support is vital to our efforts and can meaningfully impact our work in the following ways:

"This is one of the most painful times any family can go through. Hospice Austin employees, at all levels, were kind, courteous, and prompt. They were very knowledgeable and became part of our extended family during the 3 months my husband was living his life. I know his life and quality of life was so much better with home hospice. What a blessing."

"This agency, its nurses, staff, and volunteers were absolutely wonderful! I was really overwhelmed and frightened about caring for my "dying" father. They all made me comfortable in doing what I had to do and teaching me, while also caring for my dad in a most calming and respectable way. I am so very grateful to everyone I dealt with from my first phone call (the receptionist) to the most wonderful nurses ever! The staff and volunteers just were phenomenal. Every single one!"

"Words cannot express how very grateful we were to have had the services of Hospice Austin take care of our dear Mother over the past few months. When we started on this journey, we were more than somewhat overwhelmed with not really knowing what we were about to embark on. All of you made this so much easier with your true compassion for the patient and their family members. There were so many blessings shown to us during those four months, and you were one of them. You treated our Mother with such respect and care, and for that we are so deeply appreciative. I want you to also know what a source of great strength you were to Bob and me. It was because of you that we were able to take care of Mother here, in the comfort of our home, and the reason, I believe, that she was able to live beyond those first few weeks."
