HELP is a non-profit therapeutic riding center. We teach horsemanship and horseback riding skills to improve the lives and life skills of people with a wide range of challenges and disabilities. Our focus is on building a connection, increasing independence, improving social and cognitive skills while learning horsemanship and horseback riding in a safety-centered environment based on PATH International Standards.
In 2017, HELP has:
Continued as a partner with the BCBSTX STARKids program to help reach more riders in the Austin area who can benefit from therapeutic riding. Many of these riders cannot continue after their, plan-covered, 10 sessions due to funding. Thanks to your help last year we established Phoebe's Scholarship Fund in order to provide assistance to these riders and many others who could not otherwise afford our services despite our reduced fees! With your donations to this scholarship fund, 3 riders were able to continue lessons in 2017 and 4 so far have been impacted in 2018!
Was awarded a $4,000 grant from the Mark and Nancy Pollard Family Fund through Austin Community Foundation in 2017 to help us refresh many of our gates and fences that were in need of repair and replacement. With the help of DA Fencing and Fencing Done Right, American Fence and Supply, as well as many volunteer hours, HELP's facility has seen vast improvements including a solar automatic gate opener! Come by and see the new gates and fencing!
Welcomed a new board member, Josh Wilson of JD Wilson Law Firm to our dedicated board! We're looking to add more members to lead HELP into our 35th year and take it into it's next exciting chapter of service of the Austin area people with special needs. Contact email@example.com for more information.
Impact StatementHELP reaches clients from near and far! Our central location makes us accessible for clients from all over Travis and Williamson counties. The Therapeutic Riding HELP provides is a unique way for our clients to improve their life skills including physical, emotional, and cognitive in partnership with their horse and special team of volunteers. We work on social interaction (greeting horse and volunteers as well as saying Thanks and Goodbye at the end of the session), we teach horsemanship to the level the client can accomplish (brushing, tacking, getting the horse from the pasture, and so much more!) which improves confidence. All sessions at HELP are under the safety standards and guidelines of PATH International, an international certifying organization with the focus on safety and improving life skills.
Needs StatementToday your gift will enable us to continue our unique services by:
Providing a 6-month Ride Scholarship which covers partial or total lesson costs for a rider who otherwise would not be able to afford our already-reduced fee services.
Sponsoring the care of our special horses, without whom we would not exist!
Select Mistee, Rooster, Jake, Piphy, Khoko, or (2-for-1) Jack and Tess

Equine (Horse) Sponsorship is available as a year-round opportunity and helps off-set the cost of maintaining the health and happiness of our herd. As you can imagine, the cost of caring for our equine partners is one of our largest expenses so your support of equine sponsorship helps us focus our funds on maintaining and growing the program and facility. Easily set up recurring monthly payments with our simple Subscribe button on our website. You'll be updated regularly on the great work your equine partner is doing as well as be recognized on our website.

"Riding my horse at HELP is fun. I get to go on secret trails with people who like to help me get stronger." - Maddie S., HELP Rider.
"As an Eagle Scout, I swore an oath to remain active in helping others in my community. I also think that horses are beautiful animals. So volunteering at HELP is a wonderful way to keep the promise I made and spend time with horses every week". - Jeffrey P., HELP Volunteer
"I moved here from Kentucky and never expected to find an old passion for horses in such a big way but I am so glad I found it at HELP. I have been volunteering at HELP for two years and have loved being able to learn so much about how horses and people can heal each other. The bond with a horse is link none other and each week I get to horse handle for lessons to ensure the horse and rider have a successful day in the arena. I love being able to make a difference in my community each week at HELP!" - Alex H., HELP Volunteer
