Mission Statement

Founded in June, 2000, Georgetown Animal Outreach, (GAO) is a non-profit (I.R.S. sec. 501,c,3) volunteer group located in Georgetown, Texas.

Our mission is to support and enhance the services provided by shelters located in Georgetown and other local organizations dedicated to the welfare of animals by:

Raising awareness of local shelters through public education.
Serving as advocates of animal welfare in the community.
Participating in shelter activities that result in the placement of companion animals in loving, responsible homes.
Campaigning for free/low cost spay/neuter clinics.
Working toward the day when no healthy animal is killed.
We are an organization of volunteers from all walks of life, united by one common goal: the welfare of animals. While the name implies a Georgetown service organization, GAO's work and involvement extends to the entire Williamson County community.

Georgetown Animal Outreach is focusing primarily on assisting the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter by pulling special needs dogs and cats. Some of these are pregnant females, pit bulls (a special needs breed category), nursing moms, bottle babies, senior dogs, dogs with differing abilities (hearing/vision impaired for example), and dogs with specific/treatable health issues. We also make connections between the shelter and other rescue groups.

Impact Statement

Because of our focus on special needs animals, we incur very high veterinary bills. But we change the lives of these animals! Our goal is to raise $3,000 to help cover these veterinary bills. For example, we have a dog in foster care now who is suffering from cancer that can be managed, though at a medical cost, for a few years. He's only four. We want him to have the best of the best in the time remaining.

Needs Statement

GAO needs support for our veterinary bills.
