Mission Statement

Candlelight Ranch provides therapeutic and educational, nature-based
experiences to enrich the lives of at-risk youth and children with
disabilities.

Vision: To be a recognized leader and resource for nature-based programs that
transform lives.

Candlelight Ranch offers a pristine 40 acre retreat where special needs children, at-risk youth, and under-served children and families can spend a carefree, fun-filled day, overnight or weekend in nature. In 2017 Candlelight Ranch launched Military Family days in partnership with the Hope Project. These monthly family days are open to veteran and military families with children and are FREE. In addition to our monthly family days, we are strengthening our relationships with our nonprofit partners and focusing on increasing each child's time in nature by encouraging more overnight camps where children will star gaze, eat s'mores and be fully immersed in the benefits of an overnight experience in nature. Your important contribution helps enhance our programs and the experiences we are able to provide the children we serve.

Impact Statement

In 2016, the Ranch served more than 1,600 program participants. This was made possible thanks to the support of our committed volunteers who gave over 5000 hours of their time to assist in nature programming, ranch maintenance and board development. For every dollar you donate, 75 cents goes directly to programs for children -- five cents goes to administrative costs and the rest goes to making the Ranch the amazing place it is.

The Ranch supports children from many different organizations and facilities. Our 2016 visitors included Austin Children's Shelter, Helping Hand Home for Children, Horse Boy, Communities in Schools, Clay Madsen Adaptive Camp, Phoenix Center, Southwest Keys, Retreat for Changing Lives, Texas School for the Blind & Visually Impaired, Wonders and Worries, XYZone, Juvenile Justice, IACT, Teens Volunteering for Good, Highland Lakes Crisis Center and more.

Needs Statement

Candlelight Ranch is raising funds to support our multi-sensory, experiential offerings that make up our Children & Nature programs. Through these programs we offer outstanding educational, recreational and therapeutic programs to children ages 6-18 who are at-risk, underserved or have special needs and provide a positive and inclusive environment that allows all children to participate in outdoor programs otherwise inaccessible to them, and to engage in new activities constructed to challenge and support knowledge and abilities.

"Thank you for inviting us back to this beautiful place. Families like ours don't have places like this where we can get outside, go have fun and be ourselves. He gets so many new experiences!"
Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired (TSBVI) is an integral partner of Candlelight Ranch. The moments witnessed at the ranch are memorable not only for the students of TSBVI, but also for Candlelight Ranch staff and volunteers. One student explained the transcendent qualities of the ranch. She closed her eyes and marveled, "It is beautiful to be here. I have never been in a place where I can hear this beauty."
"I wish I had a toy zip line so I could hold it in my heart forever."
"This is my happiest time of the year."
"The horses' kisses make me smile and feel love."
We love our volunteers! We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities. Volunteer can chose to work directly with children, assist in ranch maintenance, serve on a committee or join our board of directors. For updated volunteer opportunities please contact our Program Director, Lynette Holtz
