2017 was a monumental year of growth, service, and JOY at Candlelight Ranch! We served over 2,300 special needs children, at-risk youth and families. 0ur initial annual goal was 1,750! We were booked seven days a week for nine weeks during the summer and had children and families visit the ranch every weekend in the spring and fall. We expanded our services to include monthly military family days. Each month military families spend an unforgettable day reconnecting, playing and healing through the wonders of nature at Candlelight Ranch. In addition, we have collaborated with Camp Dreamcatcher, designed for children who are currently in or have been adopted from Foster Care. To be able to get these kids out in nature, which is foreign to them, is priceless. We have strengthened our relationships with current partners including Camp Glimmer, the Phoenix Center/Camp Phoenix, Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired and Helping Hand Home for Children, and multiple family foundations that believe strongly in our mission and vision.

We have big goals in 2018! When you Amplify Candlelight Ranch, you create JOY for the special children and families we serve! Your Amplify Donation increases access to nature experiences that may otherwise be inaccessible to thousands of Central Texas Children and Families.

Impact Statement

In 2017, the Ranch served more than 2,300 program participants. This was made possible thanks to the support of our committed volunteers who gave over 5000 hours of their time to assist in nature programming, ranch maintenance, and board development. For every dollar you donate, 75 cents goes directly to programs for children -- five cents goes to administrative costs and the rest goes to making the Ranch the amazing place it is.

The Ranch supports children from many different organizations and facilities. Our 2017 visitors included Austin Children's Shelter, Helping Hand Home for Children, Horse Boy, Communities in Schools, Clay Madsen Adaptive Camp, Phoenix Center, Southwest Keys, Retreat for Changing Lives, Texas School for the Blind & Visually Impaired, Wonders and Worries, XYZone, Juvenile Justice, IACT, Teens Volunteering for Good, Highland Lakes Crisis Center and more. Not including all the children and families we being impacted in a way that changed their lives forever. That is Candlelight's mission.

"Thank you for inviting us back to this beautiful place. Families like ours don't have places like this where we can get outside, go have fun and be ourselves. He gets so many new experiences!"
Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired (TSBVI) is an integral partner of Candlelight Ranch. The moments witnessed at the ranch are memorable not only for the students of TSBVI, but also for Candlelight Ranch staff and volunteers. One student explained the transcendent qualities of the ranch. She closed her eyes and marveled, "It is beautiful to be here. I have never been in a place where I can hear this beauty."
"I wish I had a toy zip line so I could hold it in my heart forever."
"This is my happiest time of the year."
"The horses' kisses make me smile and feel love."
"To have been given the gift of Military Family Days has helped me be a better mom to my kids"
We love our volunteers! We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities. Volunteer can chose to work directly with children, assist in ranch maintenance, serve on a committee or join our board of directors. For updated volunteer opportunities please contact our Program Director, Lynette Holtz
