For more than 100 years, dedicated Red Cross volunteers have helped the Central Texas community through disaster relief, service to the armed forces, international services, and CPR/first aid training. When disaster strikes, the American Red Cross springs into action. Whether it's a home fire, flood or other natural disaster, local volunteers respond at all hours of the day to provide shelter, food, clothing, blankets and comfort to help the impacted families.

This year, the American Red Cross Serving Central Texas is more focused than ever on reducing deaths and injuries caused by home fires through the "Home Fire Campaign". We know that a working smoke alarm cuts the risk of dying in a home fire in half. In January 2017 alone we installed more than 1500 smoke alarms in homes that needed them, and educated each of these families on fire safety and prevention.

Impact Statement

In fiscal year 2016 (July 1, 2015 - June 30, 2016) the American Red Cross Serving Central Texas:

"The Red Cross was great. They were here immediately. They were handing out meals and blankets and helping out the people that were here, and they did an exceptionally good job. I mean, they responded so fast--got organized so fast-- that without those guys we would be really hurting. The Red Cross was just absolutely great."

"The Red Cross did a fantastic job. They came out, they gave people places to sleep, they put up carts, they fed them, gave them warm food, warm blankets. They were really a great help. Without the Red Cross I don't know how these people would have made it."
