The corporation is organized to operate exclusively for charitable and educational purposes to meet the physical, social, and emotional needs of elderly and disabled persons.
The Onion Creek Senior Center, (OCSC) is a private 501(c)(3) organization, independent of any government entity. We have been a viable part of the Buda, Texas, community since 1984. The OCSC provides a meeting place for seniors to interact through games, arts & crafts, health-related education programs, and social events. The OCSC embraces the "aging in place" concepts and encourages seniors to be healthy, happy, productive and involved in life and the community.
We are experiencing similar growth in all our activities and programs. We offer Silver Sneakers exercise, crafts, yoga, Quilting, Caregiver and Matter of Balance Classes, Cards, dominoes, line dancing, dance lessons, gardening, TOPS weight loss classes, guest speakers with valuable information for seniors, a free lunch on Thursdays, and we continue to add more activities.
Impact StatementThe Center understands that loneliness and isolation is far too common among our seniors and that our weekly lunch provides them an opportunity to mingle, find support and enjoy a hot meal. Seniors participated over 12,000 times in activities at the center in 2015. Dance/exercise classes, cards/dominoes, arts/crafts and health maintenance programs are a few of the services we provide. Our senior volunteers donated over 6000 hours in 2015, which is yet another activity that keeps folks active.
Needs StatementThe Onion Creek Senior Center has operational, programs and activities, capital improvements, and debt reduction expenses. Our goal is to continue providing a safe and comfortable environment for seniors to gather.

"To Supplement the efforts of the Onion Creek Senior Center to help older adults, in early March of 2014, Health Angels built a garden at the OCSC. From the moment the gate was opened, the garden has been a buzz of activity. The partnership between Health's Angels and OCSC to meet the needs of older adults has been both positive and productive."
