Since 1893, Helping Hand Home has transformed the lives of thousands of children by providing a nurturing and therapeutic home for those who have suffered unimaginable abuse and neglect. Our goal is to protect and restore the lives of victimized children so that those without hope may reclaim their futures. Through our Residential Treatment Center, onsite charter school, and a growing Foster and Adoption Program, we combine loving care, professional treatment and innovative services that deliver real results.

In 2017, Helping Hand Home achieved national accreditation through the prestigious Council on Accreditation (COA). This means that our organization's programs, services, administration, and management have been rigorously evaluated and meet best practice standards. There are only four COA accredited organizations in Austin. We are proud to be a part of this community of excellence.

Growth in Foster, Adoption, and Family Support - Helping Hand Home recognized an unmet need for foster and adoptive homes in Travis County, along with family support services. To address the growing number of children in need, we have doubled the number of foster and adoptive homes and continue to provide much needed family support to these families.

Impact Statement

During 2017 Helping Hand Home offered 30,624 days of care to 202 abused and neglected children from our community.

Also, 92% of children completing residential treatment have moved on to successful family settings, and 89% of children in foster homes have discharged successfully to healthy families.

This past year we saw a 55% increase in the number of adoptions facilitated by Helping Hand Home.

In 2017 the Helping Hand Home/UT Charter School offered 20,700 education hours to our children, all of whom were healing from the trauma of child abuse and neglect. This year, average attendance at school has been an amazing 99% for all of our children.

During 2017, thanks to community support, the Home organized and delivered 3,559 enrichment activities to the children we serve in residential treatment including after-school enrichment classes, outings, and field trips.

With your support, we can continue to move our children's lives away from abuse and poverty to health, stability and ultimately success.

"I would like to say thank you to you all who helped me. I am 30 years old and I can now give my children the happy and loving environment they deserve. It has been almost 20 years since I was there.
