Impact Statement

For more than 100 years, Camp Fire has helped young people find their sparks, lift their voices, and discover who they are. Camp Fire Central Texas is proud to be a part of that heritage, and to reflect the robust growth of the greater Austin area. This is an exciting time for expansion, discovery, and renewal for Camp Fire. To meet the needs of today's busy and working families, Camp Fire extended its inclusive, high quality afterschool and AISD holiday camp programs to enhance outreach throughout Austin's communities. In addition, Camp Fire Summer Camp 2017 reached new levels by doubling the amount of participants enrolled in the camp from the previous year, thereby engaging more adolescents in outdoor recreation, STEM activities, and leadership-building exercises.

Furthermore, Camp Fire's fall fundraisers garnered substantial donations to send economically-disadvantaged, at-risk children to Camp Fire's Summer Camp in 2016. For every $285 raised, one or more kids are able to exchange a week of losing ground for a week of interactive fun, exploration, and learning in the natural world.

Needs Statement

Camp Fire is a bias free, all-inclusive organization that exists to serve the children of central Texas. A donation to Camp Fire helps us develop a community of young environmental stewards who will grow up to be leaders in their classrooms, families, and communities at large.

"I appreciate the incredible programming. The best way I can describe it is simply to say that it works-Camp Fire sparks an interest in kids in the world around them. When you see Camp Fire in action, the impact clicks. My girls have had a great time at the summer camp and nature day--and they still talk about what they learned and did even months later."

"My child has been involved with Camp Fire for 3 years, they're 11 now. The growth I've seen in my son has been incredible. He is more engaged in school, more confident, it's amazing to think how reluctant he was to make new friends. Getting my son involved in Camp Fire has been one of the best decisions I've made as a parent."

"Our family spends a lot of time outdoors. We were already doing a lot of the things Camp Fire offered already, but once we became involved with the organization it gave us an opportunity to share those experiences with other families, and it's just been wonderful making new friends and spending time getting to know people we may never have known otherwise. Being a member of Camp Fire has brought us all closer together, and connected us with some really wonderful people."

"I love Camp Fire. My daughter was involved with another after-school club for about 2 years and she really didn't enjoy it. She felt excluded at times, she had trouble fitting in, but since we joined Camp Fire last year, I can really see a difference in her attitude, and as a family my husband and I feel much more included, we just love it."
