It is the mission of Bastrop CATS to improve the lives of cats in our community. We promote a local Trap, Neuter and Return (TNR) program and provide community education on humane community cat management. We provide funds and foster homes for veterinary care of orphaned neonatal, sick and injured homeless animals in our community and local shelter.
We just kicked off The PATSY Project! Our goal is to Trap, Neuter and Return 100 community cats in six weeks .
We have been actively engaged with outreach and fundraising efforts through the year. We had a fun and successful 3rd Annual Chili Cook Off in January and had 12 contestants this year!. In the summer, we organized a Bingo, BBQ and Bottle Babies Fund Raiser Event and participated in the 4th annual Baby Kitten Shower during Paws on the Patio Event. We also held our first dinner event at the Mansion at ColoVista Country Club. These events are a great opportunity to raise funds and engage the community in our mission. We are a boots on the ground, grassroots community level organization.
This past year we were able to expand our TNR Program with some new volunteers and a larger trap bank. We take community cats in to be spayed and neutered almost every week and engage the community to participate in this program to reduce the kitten population in our community. We continue to take in kittens from the community and the shelter to be socialized, bottle fed and received all medical care needed (spay and neuter, vaccines etc) to prepare them for adoption.
We continue to provide medical care needs for cats and kittens brought into the shelter that are at risk of euthanasia due to extensive medical needs that are beyond the scope of the shelter services. We took in kitties with large bite wounds, broken limbs and tails, a broken pelvis, ruptured eyes and prolapses . These kitties all receive top notch vet care and foster homes to recover and prepare for their furrever families.
Bastrop CATS could not provide all these life saving services without the support of volunteers and donors. We truly appreciate everyone's support for helping us to save the kitties!
Impact StatementBastrop Cats is a tiny organization that strives to make a HUGE impact on our rural community. We are a grass roots, boots on the ground organization. We developed a community Trap Neuter and Return Program in partnership with a local veterinary hospital to assist our community in feral cat management. We provide community outreach and established a trap loaning bank impacting the TNR of over 2000 cats in our community . We have had a direct impact on decreasing the euthanasia rate in our community shelter. We have provided foster care and medical care to bottle baby kittens and kittens and cats of all types who would otherwise not have survived. These kitties were able to move on to forever adoptive homes in the community.
Needs Statement$2000 TNR Funds for The PATSY Project. Our goal is to TNR 100 cats over six weeks . $20 pays for the spay , neuter and vaccinatiion of one community cat that wiii no longer be producing kittens.
Our TNR Program. This program is supported solely by donations . We This is one of our highest impact services we provide in our community.
General operating expenses for veterinary care needs through out the year. This includes routine vet care for common baby kitten and cat vaccinations, ailments and serious special needs medical care cases we receive throughout the year (for example limb amputations for cats hit by cars in the community).
Supplies to care for abandoned and orphaned kittens in our community (food, litter, heating pads, incubator, bottles, miracle nipple, KMR.
We would also like to purchase 2 microchip scanners this year to improve our ability to return lost cats found in the community who are microchipped.
" Thank you Bastrop CATs!!"
" Two years ago, in June 2015, I was privileged to be the foster a 2 week old baby kitten who had a hernia that had her intestines in it by her back leg. Because of people like you who donate to Bastrop CATs, not only was she the youngest kitten to be operated on at the vet, this little fighter made it through surgery, through foster and was adopted by a wonderful family" Sandee Eggleston-Dillon
" Thank you for the fantastic work you do with such limited resources" Terry Lea Kinder
