Public schools are the heart and foundation of our community- and keeping them strong here in Austin is more important now than ever. Austin ISD prepares all 82,000 students at 130 campuses to graduate ready for college, career and life. All students means ALL--and one of Austin ISD's strengths as well as challenges is its diverse student body. More than 94 languages are spoken in Austin ISD schools, 53% of students are economically disadvantaged, and 11% of students are enrolled in Special Education programs. Despite these challenges, Austin ISD is one of the strongest urban school districts in Texas, with an all-time-high 90.7% graduation rate and the most National Board Certified Teachers of any district in the state.

Community investment through Austin Ed Fund ensures that every Austin ISD student has access to innovative opportunities and enriching experiences. Since the Fall of 2015, Austin Ed Fund has awarded over $300,000 to 65 different campus-based projects. Our Innovation Grants program supports creative teacher-generated projects while the Student Opportunity Fund provides academic enrichment to economically disadvantaged students. Funded projects range from an afterschool virtual reality club and a parent-child literacy program to incentive-based field trips and tutoring for refugee students.

In 2018, Austin Ed Fund plans to award our highest amount ever to Innovation Grants and Student Opportunity Fund grants - $160,000 in total! We'll also continue to champion and help fundraise for Austin ISD's nationally-recognized Social and Emotional Learning initiative, which teaches students the skills to resolve conflict, manage emotions, and succeed in the classroom, career, and life.
