For many years we've been the only Central Texas group that exclusively rehabilitates orphaned and injured bats.

This year our focus is BUILDING CAPACITY to expand our education programs.

Impact Statement

We REHABILIBATE hundreds of orphaned and injured bats every year. Many have suffered severe trauma, but those that recover are RELEASED BACK INTO THE WILD. Those not able to make a wild living live rich natural lives in our aviary / garden.
Each bat brought to us is an EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY, leveraged by our online presence and shared with the public, school children, volunteers, and graduate students.
One of our interns is studying bats in Costa Rica this winter; another is heading off to vet school. Several students from UT's Pre-Vet Association hone their skills with us each semester. We mentor the next generation of wildlife veterinarians and bat researchers.

Needs Statement

* $25 will feed and house one bat like Gabe, an eastern red bat, for six months.
* $250 will pay for a live bat education program for an underserved local school or organization.
* We critically need $5,000 to create a quarantine room for the eventual arrival of White-nose Syndrome (WNS) in Central Texas.
* We also need a small travel trailer to house interns caring for orphan bats during baby season, starting in late May.

Help us in our capacity-building campaign to better serve our community through education, rehabilitation, and by resolving bat / human conflict.

"Seeing the bats up close was extraordinary. Seeing the millions leave their cave is remarkable but it was so much more powerful for me having learned that each one of the millions is his or her own creature and person." Laura Glynn Boston, MA
